The first 3 things most brides think about for their wedding day…

When you first get engaged and think about everything you need to do, to plan your wedding day, what are the first things that you usually start thinking about, before all else?

As a wedding planner, when I sit down with prospective clients, one of the questions I ask them is “what planning have you done to date” and I can pretty much guarantee that these three things are the first things you’ve considered, probably in this order…

1) The Dress

Finding THE dress is one of the most loved elements of this whole ‘getting married’ thing! And you are definitely seeking out the perfect number from the word go!

There’s no getting away from the fact, that what you wear on your special day is the biggie and you just have to absolutely adore your dress!!! There are oodles of valuable tips when choosing your wedding dress, because ultimately, it’s all about the dress which is why it’s one of the first things you’re thinking about, almost every time!

It has to speak to you, express your personality and ultimately, you have to feel a million dollars in it. As far as many of my brides are concerned, if you get the dress right, everything else will follow!

2) The Guests

There’s no getting away from the fact that the guests make or break your wedding! So, this has to be one of the first things brides are thinking about, and fortunately for most of you, it is!  Before you even start deciding on your venue, you’ve got to consider the numbers you are going to invite, how to cater for them all, where to put them all and of course, which ones do or don’t make the cut!  Aarrgghhhh!!!

How many of us know all too well the experience of trying to create your guest list? It can be a complete headache to get right. You don’t want to offend anyone by forgetting about them, but nor do you want to end up inviting your mum’s second cousins twice removed that you’ve never actually met.  I’m not going to lie, it is probably the hardest wedding planning job there is, and the one most families come to blows over, but it is super important and luckily, you are all prioritising it! Phew!

3) The Date

You will want good weather, and as many people to be there as possible, and all that depends on the date! Of course choosing the date makes our ‘first 3 things’; without it, you can’t plan anything or book anyone or anywhere, but it is also one of the most difficult! Holidays, sporting events, days off work all have an impact, not to mention availability of your wedding venue.  So even if this is one of the first things you think about, but haven’t finalised it yet, then sit down, set it in stone and get on with the rest of the planning! 😊

And what do you have to think about next….? Well that’s for another blog post! But here’s a little clue

Happy planning x
